Kering is a global, family-led luxury group, home to people whose passion and expertise nurture creative Houses in ready-to-wear and couture, leather goods, jewelry, eyewear and beauty: Gucci, Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, McQueen, Brioni, Boucheron, Pomellato, DoDo, Qeelin, Ginori 1735 as well as Kering Eyewear and Kering Beauté.
Creativity is our Legacy
All Kering’s Houses have grown from a powerful and singular creative vision — whether in beauty, fashion, luxury or society. This creative point of view is what sparked their creation and keeps them relevant and influential to this day. It is also what empowers them to spark emotion, to be a source of inspiration and influence the world over.
Inspired by their creative heritage, Kering’s Houses design and craft exceptional products and experiences that reflect the Group’s commitment to excellence, sustainability and culture.
That mission is what motivates every one of Kering’s collaborators.
It is expressed through our signature: Creativity is our Legacy.
A name that expresses our values
The name Kering comes from the Breton word ker, meaning “home”, hearth” or “living space.” It is as much a symbolic choice reflecting the Group’s attachment to the Pinault family’s roots as it is an expression of Kering’s role in relation to its brands.
It is also a reference to the notion of “care,” which mirrors the attention Kering devotes to its teams, customers, partners, the excellence of its products and to the future of the planet.
A family and entrepreneurial story
In 1962, at 26 years old, François Pinault founded a timber trading company in Rennes. Thirty years later, Pinault SA was the French leader in the timber market. In the 1990s, the Group shifted its focus to distribution and changed its name to Pinault-Printemps-Redoute, later shortened to PPR.
A new chapter began in the 2000s with the acquisition of Gucci, soon followed by other iconic Houses.
Renamed Kering in 2013, the Group completed its transformation into a pure luxury player with the acquisition of new Houses and the creation of two entities dedicated to luxury eyewear and beauty: Kering Eyewear, in 2014, and Kering Beauté, in 2023.
