For over two decades she has been a voice of gender equality in China. From a journalist at the People's Daily to co-founding organisations including the Anti Domestic Violence Network in China, Feng Yuan has been in the pursuit of one goal: advocating women's rights. Her journey now enters a new chapter, joining the Kering Foundation's board of directors as an expert for Asia Pacific regions to further enhance the Foundation's impact in combatting violence against women.
Chairman of the Kering Foundation, François-Henri Pinault, commented on Professor Yuan Feng's appointment saying
“I AM DELIGHTED TO WELCOME YUAN FENG AND LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING ALONGSIDE HER SO AS TO DRIVE THE CAUSE OF WOMEN. WITH THE ADDITION OF HER EXPERTISE AND HER EXPERIENCE IN CHINA TO THE BOARD, WE WILL EXPAND THE KERING FOUNDATION’S IMPACT ACROSS NEW HORIZONS. FIVE YEARS AFTER LAUNCHING THE KERING FOUNDATION, THE URGENT NEED TO COMBAT VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN STILL PERSISTS. BY REORIENTATING OUR ACTIONS WE WILL STRENGTHEN THE VOICE OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE VICTIMS IN ASIA, A REGION THAT IS IMPORTANT TO OUR GROUP AS A WHOLE.”
On the occasion of her appointment, Yuan Feng spoke of her new venture
“VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN IS A DAILY REALITY FOR MILLIONS ACROSS THE WORLD, AND SO COMBATTING IT MUST BE OUR DAILY PRIORITY. IT IS A PRIVILEGE TO JOIN SUCH A BOARD OF EXPERTISE AS THAT OF THE KERING FOUNDATION. OVER THE PAST FIVE YEARS, THEIR ACTIONS HAVE IMPROVED THE LIVES OF MANY WOMEN.”
