The new global standard for nature will provide science-backed guidance for companies to address the complexities of biodiversity. In turn, it will support companies to assess and prioritize locations and hotpots along the value chain so that measurable actions are taken, which will directly contribute to the preservation and restoration of natural ecosystems.
Drawing on the best available science, and building on the success of SBTi for climate, the SBTN’s initial phase will focus on freshwater and land, with target setting for biodiversity and oceans in later stages.
The SBTN is a natural evolution for Kering, building on the pioneering work the Group has been doing through its Environmental Profit and Loss accounting and the many initiatives under its biodiversity strategy.
“Kering is delighted to be piloting the validation process for Science-Based Targets for Nature. As illustrated by our Environmental Profit & Loss Account and Biodiversity Strategy, we are committed to the development and implementation of scientific approaches for companies to measure and manage their impacts and dependencies on nature. We are excited about this next step on our nature-positive journey, and eager to continue learning, improving and sharing insights along the way.” Marie-Claire Daveu, Chief Sustainability and Institutional Affairs Officer, Kering
