In 2013, the Group - then known as PPR - became Kering. "With this new name, which resonates with our roots, our history, and our values, we were expressing the desire to go further, while also reaffirming the foundations of our identity," explains François-Henri Pinault, Kering's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.

To celebrate its tenth anniversary, Kering has unveiled an advertising campaign to showcase its singular vision of creative and timeless Luxury as a platform for self-expression, sharing and change.

Tracing Kering's history and commitments

Much has changed at Kering in a decade, but the Group has never forgotten its roots nor its long-term vision as a trailblazer. The journey began in Rennes in 1962, when François Pinault founded Établissements Pinault, a small wood trading company.
Over the years the business grew and diversified, reflecting its founder's ability to anticipate major economic and social changes. These efforts cemented the firm's position as a leader in specialized retail distribution, paving the way for the creation of Pinault-Printemps-Redoute which soon became PPR.
2005 saw François-Henri Pinault take the helm at PPR as he embarked on a new and radical transformation that would establish the Group as a leading luxury player.

« Kering is constantly innovating, imagining and encouraging all forms of boldness, with a freedom to create and explore new ideas while forever embracing its heritage and the history that drives this momentum. »

To bolster its campaign celebrating creativity, Kering has planned initiatives that spotlight its history and commitments.

Publishing a book retracing the Pinault family's entrepreneurial journey

Together with the Flammarion publishing house, Kering has produced a book that retraces the Group's history from the first company that François Pinault founded in 1962 to the global luxury pure player it has become. The book draws on a wealth of archives, photos, and personal accounts to document Kering's extraordinary journey.

Presenting three unique exhibitions for European Heritage Days

On September 16th and 17th, Kering will open the doors of its Paris headquarters for European Heritage Days. Events include an original exhibition of contemporary artwork from the Pinault Collection, as well as an immersion into Balenciaga's heritage. This year's program also features an installation that invites visitors to discover the Group in a fun and comprehensive way.

Minting an NFT in honor of Kering's commitments

The Group also joined forces with the artist Emily Yang to develop an NFT combining innovation, creativity and philanthropy. Yang's NFT design features the Kering emblem, the owl, set in a landscape that mirrors the real-time season and natural light in the Arctic. It symbolizes the ongoing effort required to safeguard the Arctic environment. On September 12th, 2023, the Kering Foundation auctioned this digital art piece at its annual Caring for Women dinner in New York City. Funds raised will benefit the Kering Foundation's partner NGOs that address gender-based violence.
